Adam In premortal life, Adam was known as Michael and the phrase “Michael the archangel” (Jude 1:9) defines Adam as the chief angel or angel of highest rank. Michael led the cause of Jehovah in the war in heaven. “Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Revelation 12:7–9). God chose Adam to be the first man on this earth and honored him with His presence: “Adam . . . was the son of God, with whom God, himself, conversed” (Moses 6:22).
